Tech. Log Reaction

Tech. Log Reaction

After logging my technology usage hours for 3 days or so I was not surprised with the results I found.  I don't use social networking sites as much as I predicted; over the course of the three days I spent 15 minutes on facebook.  However,  I am on the internet for 4-5 hours per day and almost all of it is non-school related;  checking fantasy football scores, reading email, and reading news and current events combine for the majority of my logged internet time.  As school progesses I expect to use the internet for more productive things but my daily routine, especially friday and saturday since I have no classes, consists of alot of time using the internet for non-school purposes.

A second gigantic use of technology is television.  I spend 3-4 hours per day with the T.V. on.  On a side note; It's a good thing this log didn't count for sunday because I watched football from 12 PM to 1 AM.  That being said, the T.V. is usually on when I am home, even if it's just as background noise while I'm surfing the web.

My third use of technology is my cell phone.  Luckily I don't have internet access through my phone or else my technology usage would skyrocket.  I am on my phone all of the time (which adds up to be about 1 hour per day) whether it's texting or making phone calls.  Without my cell phone I feel disconnected, to an extent.

After completing the log I wasn't surprised with the numbers I uncovered.  My love of information is shown through almost half of my day being spent online.  These numbers are alittle too high for my liking and I know they will decrease as we progress into the school year; I need to find some time for homework and reading.  It is very interesting though to see how much my life revolves around technology; without it I'd be sufficiently bored.
